Instructors
Ronald D. Lewis MPA
Professor Lewis is a graduate of Brigham Young University in 1976 and
received his MPA from BYU in 1978. Professor Lewis is a co-founder of the
International Institute for Health & Wellness, Inc. He was an assistant
professor at Snow College from 1978-1983. He served as a Health
Research/Studies Director at the University of Utah from 1989-2000.
Professor Lewis currently supervises studies in Public Health
Administration for the Nursing program at RVU.
Robert E. Morrow, MD
Dr. Morrow is a graduate from the University of Florida with his BS in
1951 and from the Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia in 1955. From
1960-1961 He was an instructor for the Shriners Children Hospital and a
part-time instructor for the University of Utah Medical Center from 1961
to 1986. Dr. Morrow is a co-founder of the International Institute for
Health & Wellness, and supervises coursework for the RVU Health Sciences
Department in research writing.
Cordell E. Logan ND PhD
Dr. Logan is a graduate from North Dakota State University in 1962. He
received his MS from Montana State University in 1968, his PhD from Utah
State University in 1971 and his ND from the National College of
Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Ore in 1978. He is a widely read author
and supervises correspondence courses in medical writing, medical
research, and genetics. Dr. Logan is one of the co-founders of the
International Institute for Health & Wellness, Inc.
Sara B. Abrams RN MSN
Nurse Abrams is a graduate of Tulane University in 1965 and received her
RN from Tarlington
State University in 1967. She received her MSN from the University of
Houston in 1971. Sara
and her husband along with a good friend founded Rio Verde University in
1968. She is the
head of the nursing program at RVU and a semi-retired home-call nurse. She
is active in VNA.
Gerald W. Kessler MD FACS
Dr. Kessler is a semi-retired surgeon. He is a graduate of the University
of Arkansas-Little Rock in 1961, and a University of Arkansas-Fayetteville
Medical School graduate 1968. Dr. Kessler specialized in joint surgery,
and teaches courses in anatomy for the RVU nursing program. Dr. Kessler
conducts seminars and continuing education courses for the nursing
licensing/certificate programs offered by RVU. He also travels and teaches
in Mexico.
Wayne Tollier MSN PRN
Professor Tollier is a graduate of El Paso Community College LN, and Texas
Western University BS 1965. He is a co-founder of Rio Verde University and
the primary instructor in the nursing program. He created the continuing
education and seminar programs in nursing for RVU. Professor Tollier
received his MSN from the University of Texas-Arlington in 1981, and his
PRN from the University of Texas-Austin in 1990. Professor Tollier is the
primary instructor for a majority of the nursing correspondence courses
offered by RVU.
David M. Rosen MD PhD FACC
Dr. Rosen is a retired nutritional expert. He graduated summa cum laude
from the University of Maryland in 1961, and medical school at Johns
Hopkins in Baltimore in 1971. He was a full professor at Princeton
University from 1974-1995. He earned his PhD in bio-chemistry from Wayne
State University in Detroit in 1974. Dr. Rosen specializes in nutrition/pharma-nutricuticals
and supervises correspondence courses in that area for the RVU Health
Sciences Department. Dr. Rosen also periodically hosts seminars in
nutrition for the Department.
Auriel R. Combs PhD JD
Dr. Combs is a University of Kentucky graduate 1973 and received his
Doctorate in 1981. He graduated from Southland University College of Law
in 1977 with his LLD, and Kensington University College of Law with his JD
in 1993. Dr. Combs teaches courses on writing research papers, legal
terminology, and medicine and the law for the correspondence department of
RVU.
CB Jacobson MD DSc
Dr. Jacobson is a University of Utah graduate in Genetics 1960, and
received his MD from George Washington University, School of Medicine in
1964. He did is DSc work at Cambridge 1978. Dr. Jacobson taught at GWU in
the Medical School from 1963-1965. Dr. Jacobson specializes in coursework
on genetics and nutrition. Dr. Jacobson is a co-founder of the
International Institute for Health & Wellness, Inc.
Wade M. Gates MD EdD
Dr. Gates is a graduate of New Mexico State University 1965 and University
of New Mexico Medical School 1973. He received his Doctorate in Education
from the University of Houston in 1981. Dr. Gates is the Health Sciences
Education Director for Rio Verde University and oversees the distance
learning center. He teaches courses in Medical Technology
Judith Owens-Rogers DO
Dr. Owens-Rogers is one of the newest instructors at the RVU department of
Health Sciences. She is a full time emergency room physician in Oklahoma
City, and is a graduate of the Ft. Worth Osteopathic Medical School in
1998. Dr. Owens-Rogers works in the distance learning department of RVU
specializing in hospital procedure.
Bernard C. Dolenz MD JD
Dr. Dolenz is a University of Texas-San Antonio graduate 1964, and
received his MD from the University of Houston Medical Center in 1971. He
further specialized in psychiatry. He received his law degree from San
Angelo State University in 1983. Dr. Dolenz works in the nursing program
at RVU specializing in continuing education courses relating to expert
witness, legal testimony, and medical malpractice for nurses and nurse
practitioners.
