Time Limits The students are allowed to take up to 3 hours to complete the exam. Source of Information The questions for this exam are based on group exercises and the following articles discussed in class to date: • Using the Experiential Learning Cycle in Clinical Instruction—Harrelson & Dunn • Silence in Group Psychotherapy: A Powerful Communication—Gans • The Ethics of Classroom Silence—Petress • Silence, Its Use and Abuse: A View from Self Psychology—Elson • The Kolb Model Modified for Classroom Activities—Svinicki • What to Observe in Groups—Wilson Scoring Criteria There are 20 points possible for this exam. The questions are a combination of true/false (.5 pts. each), multiple choice (.5 pts. each), and short essay questions (4 pts. each). The correct answers for the true/false and multiple choice questions are highlighted in red. Score the essay questions using the following criteria: Question (26) To receive all 4 points possible the student must included the following information: • Name each of the five phases of the experiential learning model from the Harrelson & Dunn article • Provide an example that demonstrates their understanding of each phase Distribute the points as follows: • (.4) points for each phase mentioned • (.4) points for each example Question (27) The student must connect a specific point learned in the reading to a classroom activity they participated in with a group. They need to describe how the activity increased their understanding of the point made in the article. Distribute the points as follows: • (2) points for describing the point in the article and the activity • (2) points for describing what new knowledge was gained Grading Feedback Score the tests and provide feedback to each student on what they did well on the exam and return the exam to them the following week in class. |
